About Kelsey Campbell
Kelsey Campbell aspires to be the first female wrestler to win Olympic gold for the United States. Born in Anchorage, Alaska, Kelsey initially discovered the sport of wrestling in Milwaukie, Oregon, where she was raised. In 2002, the high school senior had lettered 11 times in five sports when a close friend challenged her to try wrestling. A bet, more or less, Kelsey made the team, completing the season as the only female on the team, and one of a handful in the state of Oregon. She went on to place second at the Girls’ State tournament, 7th at the USGWA National Championships, and 8th at the Asics National Championships, giving her a two-time All-American status, and many offers to wrestle for women’s college teams. Kelsey would go on to be the first and only female to ever wrestle for Arizona State University, win two College National Titles, two U.S. Open National Titles, qualify for two U.S. World Teams, place 5th in the World at the 2010 World Championships, and qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
